Real Estate Agent, Galveston Island

Andrea P. Sunseri, a licensed REALTOR® since 1977, has devoted almost half of her life assisting buyers and sellers in the Galveston market. Born on the island, Andrea's knowledge of the Galveston community, coupled with her decades of experience of the "in-town" market, brings a new dimension to the Sand `N Sea real estate family. She has worked with literally hundreds of clients through the years; many of them purchased Galveston properties as second homes, fell in love with the laid-back island life and then decided to make Galveston their permanent residence. Andrea handles 50-60 transactions per year which makes her one of top real estate agents in Galveston, as well as one of the most productive.

Education has been a major focus for Andrea and she continues to attend seminars and conferences to stay on the cutting edge of the real estate profession. In her pursuit of additional knowledge, Andrea completed classes to attain two designations. She is a Graduate of the REALTOR Institute (GRI) and Certified Residential Specialist (CRS). Less than 4% of all Realtors hold the combination of these two designations. She also completed a rigorous, on-line course that taught real estate professionals the nuts and bolts of working with real estate on-line to obtain the National Association of REALTORS e-PRO certification. In January 2009 she received her Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist (CLHMS) designation and in January she received the RSPS certification as a Resort and Second Home Property Specialist.

For several years, Andrea was Education Chairman for the Galveston Association of REALTORS®. She will again take on this responsibility in 2011 for GAR. She will continue to teach Island REALTORS about various changes that occur with sales contracts and addenda and kept them abreast of the changing market. Andrea has also held the distinguished position of Education Chairman for the Texas Association of REALTORS® (TAR) and continues to help other REALTORS® "raise the bar" within the profession.

Andrea was on the TAR Executive Board as the Region 10 Vice President from 2001 to 2007. As an executive board member, she represented various Gulf coast areas including Galveston, Brazoria and Matagorda Counties. Her influence at the state level helped to secure the TAR state convention in Galveston in 2007 and again in 2010.

During the three-plus decades that she has been a member of GAR, she has been honored as 1996 GAR REALTOR® of the Year, 2007 GAR REALTOR® of the Year and most recently, she was honored with the 2009 GAR Outstanding Service Award.

During the past several years, Andrea's involvement in the community has included the City of Galveston Charter Review Committee, United Way Allocations Committee, Ronald McDonald House Board, Galveston Children's Home Board, Junior League of Galveston County, Inc. Board, Galveston College Foundation Board, Hospice of Galveston County Board, the Campeche Cove Homeowners' Association Board, and the Peter Andrew Sunseri Memorial Scholarship Fund Board. Andrea is President-Elect of the 1894 Grand Opera House.

A few years ago Andrea was recommended by the Texas Real Estate commission, being noted as "an experienced practitioner who would make a valuable contribution" to the TREC Examination Review Committee. She spent time in Austin helping to evaluate test questions used for sales and broker examinations. Also, Andrea has been interviewed by the London Financial Times, The Galveston Daily News, the Houston Chronicle and Fox Channel 39 News for her thoughts and opinions about the Galveston real estate market.

Andrea and her husband have been married since 1963. They are both BOIs (Born on the Island!) They have two daughters, Carolyn L. Sunseri, and Stephanie S. Doyle who is married to Galveston County Commissioner Patrick Doyle. They have a late son; Peter A. Sunseri. Their family also includes four grandchildren: Allie, Shannon, Thomas and Andrew.
